Weequahic Apartments

Altho much of the Weequahic section we passed thru on our walking tour July 30th was filled with one- or two-family private homes, there are lots of apartment buildings, of various styles, most in very good shape.

By the way, one of the participants in that tour, who attended Weequahic High and serves on its alumni association, says that the proper pronunciation is wee.kwáe.yik, but general use has shortened and altered it to wée.kwaek. Apparently either is acceptable. I'd prefer the first pronunciation, but don't want to seem pretentious so will probably stick to wée.kwaek.
