Blogger Only Seemed to Have Gone Insane

I figured out what happened with Blogger yesterday, no thanks to Blogger "support". I left a message in their Help forum but no one answered. That has happened before. I figured out what might have happened and fixed the problem myself. It was really simple once I thought about what might have occurred: in backdating a post to last Saturday, I typed the date wrong (3/31/08 rather than 5/31/08) — what a difference a date makes — and Blogger didn't care. It didn't ask why I was going back two months, but put that post in the proper sequence for March 31st rather than May 31st. Since March 31st was far outside the range of posts viewable yesterday, it seemed to have vanished. Once I searched for "Backfilling", the title of that post, I found it, changed the date, et voilà!, it appeared in the right place. Silly me.

Ah, well. That's a relief. But Blogger has NO support, and I'm thinking of testing other blogging sites, such as Live Journal and WordPress, to see if they're any better. Migrating this blog to another service might cause problems, but I suppose I could leave a post titled "Redirect" as the last item here to alert visitors to the new location.

For now, I will focus on finishing the other backfilling posts to bring this up-to-date, now that I know that Blogger is not simply discarding everything I try to do.
